News Alert! Coeur d'Alene Idaho ends the IB program in CoeurdAlene schools (while Missoula is just beginning this unnecessary and expensive program at Hellgate HIgh)

Coeur d'Alene Idaho, our neighbors to the west, has now officially kicked out the International Baccalaureate Program from their schools.

Now Missoula needs to do the same.

Across the home page of the truthaboutib.com website today one can see a yellow banner with the wording, "Coeur d'Alene Idaho Board of Education votes unanimously to eliminate IB! 10/1/12."

missoula schools watchdog has been attempting to alert Missoula citizens about the downside of the International Baccalaureate Program for approximately the last two years - since around the time Superintendent Alex Apostle came to Missoula.

msw had placed information from Truth About IB (truthaboutib.com) in Board packets, spoke out against IB at monthly School Board Meetings, and sent emails to the superintendent and Board members.

None of these attempts made any difference as the IB program at Hellgate now has 100 students.
At what cost?  msw had not been given a figure.  How can it be a small amount when our district is sending our teachers all over the country and even out of the country (Toronto) for training.

Missoulians can check out the truthaboutib.com website and read some astounding information about the International Baccalaureate Program.

msw is quite sure once people read a few articles they will be against the IB program continuing in our schools.  Remember that the district is thinking about converting an entire elementary school, Lewis and Clark School, into an elementary IB school!

As msw had mentioned in other blog posts, Board Chairwoman Toni Rehbein was the president of Missoula International School shortly before being elected to the MCPS Board of Trustees.  MIS is an IB school

Could this be why this controversial program has proliferated in our school district? Could the IB program at Hellgate be another favor to Rehbein's friends at MIS so that their students can continue the IB program where their studies ended at the Missoula International School?  msw thinks it is an entirely credible possibility.

We, as concerned citizens of Missoula need to end Board Chairwoman Toni Rehbein's questionable ideas of a good education. Coeur d'Alene Idaho did it - we can too!
